We are setting new standards for cost-effective and attractive housing construction

Many people can provide suitable housing for themselves. Low-income households receive support from the state. This is why in 2003 Bavaria provided for the construction of 5,200
social housing units,
owner-occupied dwelling and condominiums, 1,713 places in homes for the elderly and handicapped, and dormitories. In addition, EUR 225 million was in 2003 paid out in
social housing subsidies
and 360 million in housing allowances.
Our
models of residential accommodation
show various ways towards cost-effective, attractive, and ecological housing construction. Since 1985, approximately EUR 120 million has been spent on more than 100 projects covering some 3,500 units of residential accommodation. In experimental housing construction, the emphasis is on ecological housing, with particular focus on ecological modernisation. Within the framework of the initiative, "The Future of Housing Construction", projects promoting a sense of community, projects towards stabilising existing living quartersas a part of the programme Livable Residential Aereas, and the subject of the "flexible floor plan" are increasingly coming to the fore.
Since 1971 the Funds Urban Development and Redevelopment have made a significant contribution of EUR 2.95 billion to the development and revitalization of Bavarian towns and villages. The substantial funds are used e.g. to modernize buildings and to improve the surroundings and environmental conditions. Finding new uses for abandoned military and railway facilities and revitalizing the economy of historical landmarks are two areas of improvement. The financial aid provided by the state activates and multiplies private capital and thus makes a long-lasting contribution to job security.
